The United States Constitution was written FOR THE PEOPLE. Our mission is to bring The Constitution TO THE PEOPLE. In 2020, The Institute For American Studies will teach The Constitution to select communities in Middle TN in a simple, apolitical, factual, yet entertaining format. IFAS offers four-week classes at a central location in your community. The US Constitution is constantly referenced by politicians and the media, but many Americans have either forgotten or never knew the contents of one of the most important documents ever written…
How It Works
Classes meet once a week over a four-week period (see dates available). Each week we discuss a different topic:
1 - THE GENIUS OF THE FOREFATHERS
What sparked the incredible inspiration and thought that went into the Constitution by its Framers?
3 - THE AMENDMENTS
We’ll cover all 27 Amendments to The Constitution and what they mean for us today.
2 - THE CONSTITUTION
Take a deep dive into the history, content and purpose of this incredible document.
4 - LANDMARK CASES AND INTERPRETATION
Learn about cases and events that have shaped how the Constitution is interpreted and applied today.
Our classes are for anyone age 16 and over. No prior education is needed. The Constitution is for ALL people!
